This is a rare trick on the flying trapeze that is more often see in cradle acts. It is used for tricks when the flyer ends up facing upwards (normally involving a Stick catch).
Instead of catching the stick, the catcher twists their arms so their palms are facing down, rather than up as usual, and catches the flyer's wrists. The flyer then swings down with them facing the platform.
It is also an option for use with small children, when unpredicatable flyers make the use of the stick dangerous.
Thanks to the team at Circus Arts Australia for providing a video for this trick.
